Why choose Nurture for your cat’s care

Have you been searching for cat vets near me, or cat vets in Wells or Weston-super-Mare, and hoping to find a refreshing kind of veterinary care?

By choosing Nurture, you are choosing to elevate your cat’s care to help them live a long and happy life. Here are just some of the reasons why we think you and your cat will love Nurture:

At Nurture, pet wellbeing is at the core of everything we do. Being an ISFM (International Society of Feline Medicine) accredited Cat Friendly Clinic signifies our commitment to providing excellent care for our feline patients.

We prioritise creating a stress-free environment tailored to the unique needs of cats. From specialised handling techniques to feline-friendly facilities, our ISFM-accredited clinics ensure that every aspect of the veterinary experience is designed to minimise stress and enhance the overall wellbeing of cats. This accreditation reflects our dedication to promoting positive veterinary experiences for both cats and their owners, fostering a cat-friendly approach to healthcare.

Our unique Nurture design moves away from the traditional clinical vet practices in Somerset. We understand that visiting the vets isn’t every cat’s dream day out. That’s why we do all we can to ensure when your cat visits us they are comfortable and content. We also strive to make your visit a relaxing one too.

Here’s how our team are committed to creating a truly cat-friendly space for you and your beloved companion.

  1. We provide cat-only waiting areas away from any inquisitive canines
  2. At Wells we have a unique cattery for elevated patient care & wellbeing
  3. Our cat advocates meet regularly to ensure we’re always providing the highest level of cat care
  4. All our team are trained in how to provide a nurturing environment for cats

Unlike many vet practices in Wells & Weston-super-Mare, we offer longer 20-minute vet consultations and your vet will sit down with you at a desk for the first part of your appointment. This can be especially helpful when there is a lot of information to share and take in. Your cat will then receive a thorough nose-to-tail check and your vet will work with you to create the optimal treatment plan.

We encourage you to see the same vet every time you visit wherever possible so they can get to know the two of you, and you them. Building a close bond with your vet will help your cat to relax, and means your vet will know every detail of their care. Meet our cat vets.

Our nurturing vet dentists based at our Wells & Weston-super-Mare practices can help your cat’s oral health to stay in tip top condition. A healthy mouth equals a happy cat no matter if they’re an indoor cat or an outdoor explorer! Ask our team about our vet dentist service for cats.

If your beloved cat needs to stay with us as a day patient or overnight, they will be cared for in our specially designed wellbeing cattery – the only one of its kind in the area.

Nurture’s cattery promotes maximum comfort and relaxation for our feline patients. Each cat care pod is large in size, with a clear perspex door (no metal bars) and individual controls for temperature and lighting. As you will see from the photo above, the lighting in your cat’s individual pod can be set to the colour that is most helpful to their recovery and care.

Green Daylight Mode: Clear Vision, Reduced Stress

  • The innovative Daylight Mode supports the patient’s natural vision by mimicking natural daylight. This helps cats to better recognise our vets and nurses during recovery, leaving them calm and more relaxed. By alleviating stress and anxiety, we aim to positively impact the duration of their recovery journey. Also, with the light emulating natural daylight, the patient’s intrinsic circadian rhythm is preserved, which is crucial for cats, as it regulates their natural biological processes and behaviours over a 24-hour cycle

Red Recovery Mode: Undisturbed Rest

  • The key to recovery lies in quality sleep. The red light presents a clever solution, enabling uninterrupted observation without disturbing the patient’s rest. Since cats lack cone receptors for the red spectrum, this light mode ensures they remain undisturbed in their sleep cycles. This enhances their overall rest and recuperation, ultimately contributing to a more effective recovery process.

Blue Cleaning Mode: Precision Hygiene

  • The blue harmless UVA light transforms cleaning protocols by making visible what is often invisible. With this mode activated, organic materials such as blood, urine, or mucus fluoresce that could be missed by the human eye are illuminated, enabling our team to meticulously clean every corner. This extra level of cleaning maximises biosecurity and minimises cross-contamination risks.
